About The Battleship, NJ

The USS New Jersey (BB-62) is “the most decorated battleship in Navy history, earning distinction in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and conflicts in the Middle East.” Between 1938 and 1991, the New Jersey fought in more battles than any other battleship in American history. After generations of fighting communism, fascism, and terrorism, the USS New Jersey now serves as a memorial & museum in Camden, New Jersey.

Join us for the Festival on October 29th

The USS New Jersey creates the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable festival night. Join us at the most decorated battleship in history for an evening of history, live music, spirit tastings, and more. We’re featuring 8 different Jersey distilleries at this 21 and over event. These distilleries are excited to share their favorite spirits with you, crafted right here in The Garden State. Guests can learn about their future with free readings from a Tarot Card Reader. Enjoy tours, mixed drinks, and delicious foods. Make the most of the night by taking part in our costume contest!

Any guests who also bring in a packaged food item for WMMR’s Preston and Steve’s Camp Out for Hunger can get a free Two Bridges Tumbler. Thank you in advance for helping to feed our community!

The Origins of Striped Lion Distilling

Striped Lion was started by Erin & Kevin Wright back in 2020. While they had collected rum and dreamt about starting their own distillery for years, the dream was put on hold by pandemic restrictions and pending construction permits. Kevin & Erin have travelled near and far, tasting hundreds of different varieties of rum to find the flavors that speak to them. They’ve combined their passion for rum and science to craft spirits they’re proud to share with South Jersey. What can you find when you visit their tasting room?

Visit Striped Lion

Visit their location in Woodbury, New Jersey to purchase a bottle, enjoy a cocktail, or tour the distillery. We recommend tasting their Spiced Rum. It starts off as a pure single rum. Fermented from organic American molasses and 100% pot distilled, it’s then vapor-distilled through whole spices, adding flavor without using artificial ingredients.

Striped Lion’s fans rave over their handcrafted cocktails. If you visit their tasting room, you can’t skip out on the Cocoa Creme. They Cocoa Rum, simple syrup, cream, and seltzer come together to create a rich & creamy cocktail you’ll adore. A dairy-free version is available as well. If you’re looking to tae a tour, be sure to make reservations for a Saturday or Sunday, when tours are offered. Their mission is to put an end to mass-produced & overly sweetened ciders. How did they get started? What made the Armageddon Brewing team choose ciders & mead over beer? The Origins of Armageddon Brewing

Armageddon Brewing began as four avid homebrewers determined to expand the road of beer alternatives. When one of their founding members, Christian, was misdiagnosed with Celiac disease, it meant the immediate exclusion of beer from his life. Christian turned to ciders and mead to satisfy the craving, but was unsatisfied with what was already on the shelves. Most of the more mainstream ciders are often overly sweetened or have an artificial taste. For both a brewer and beer nerd, that’s unacceptable.

The Armageddon Brewing crew took to brewing and drinking their own ciders. They fine-tuned their craft to produce a wide range of ciders, from incredibly dry to sweet and juicy. They took to creating a diverse array of meads as well, pure, flavored, barrel-aged, and beyond.

But sharing their new drinks with the state of New Jersey was going to be an uphill battle. The state requirements for them to produce cider professionally were outlandish at the time, including the need to own at least 3 acres of land to grow ingredients, those ingredients needed to make up 51% of the cider, and much more. So from 2014 to 2017, their work was less about brewing and more about lawmaking. The Armageddon Brewing founders met with legislatures, drafted the bill, made concessions, and worked with the unshakeable support of the local community & local government to make a change. On May 11th of 2017, the bill was signed into a law, making the production and distribution of hard cider and mead in New Jersey legal.

They did away with their legal hats and came back to what it was all about: brewing unforgettable meads & ciders.

When you stop by, be sure to try Exile, one of their flagship ciders. A semi-dry traditional hard apple cider, Exile hits home with a strong but sweet apple taste and a crisp finish.

The Armageddon team has an “experimental pilot orchard” where they’re always growing a variety of apples in various conditions to see what grows best when. So trying their seasonal ciders & meads is a must. With their constantly evolving fruits & methodologies, tasting their seasonal drinks is a one-of-a-kind opportunity.
